Maia brings 15+ years of regulatory and developmental/reproductive toxicology (DART) experience, most recently as Senior Director, Regulatory Toxicology at ImmunityBio, with prior roles at ExxonMobil Biomedical Sciences and Merck. Her technical strength spans mechanistic and molecular toxicology (embryology, mitochondrial biology) and alternative, non-animal testing models, and was successful in regulatory acceptance of new approach methods for toxicology endpoints. She’s led regulatory strategy and submissions and applies systems biology and computational approaches to predictive toxicology and safety decision-making.

She holds a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Louisville and has held member and leadership roles with HESI-DART, Birth Defects Research and Prevention, Competent Authorities for REACH and CLP, and the Middle Atlantic Reproduction and Teratology Association.
