The Future is Now: Integrating New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) into Your Drug Safety Assessment Program

Presenters:
Helen-Marie Dunmore, MSc, Senior Director, Toxicology, Certara Drug Development Solutions
Kevin Snyder, PhD, BS, Director, Nonclinical Innovation Emerging Technologies, Certara

As the pharmaceutical industry shifts toward more predictive and ethical approaches in nonclinical safety assessment, New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) are gaining momentum. This session will explore real-world examples of how they can be used today in tandem with more traditional methods to improve safety and support the 3Rs (replacement, reduction, and refinement).

Objectives
Whilst NAMs are being developed they cannot currently fully replace traditional in vivo approaches. This session will describe advantages and disadvantages of various in silico, in vitro, and in vivo approaches to nonclinical toxicology, and discuss strategies to overcome the limitations of traditional methods by integrating multiple approaches.
